Description

Karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana explanation in English. This lesson from Mahabharata or Bhagawad Gita Changed my life. In this FutureIQ episode, we discuss the Bhagavad Gita shloka "Karmanye Vadhikaraste" and its relevance in today's world. The shloka emphasizes the importance of focusing on our actions rather than the results, and not being attached to external rewards or recognition.

This message is particularly relevant to leaders and celebrities, who have used it to inspire and motivate themselves and others. For example, Mahendra Singh Dhoni embodied the message by focusing on his actions rather than the results and remains grounded and focused on his work. In our daily lives, the shloka reminds us to focus on doing our best in the present moment without attachment to the outcome, whether it is in our work or personal life.

Let's understand the meaning of Karmanye Vadhikaraste and how we can apply it to our daily lives.

so Naveen tell me what is the one principle in life that you absolutely swear by from the Gita okay actually when I first heard it it seemed like a platitude to me one of those sentences that sounds good but nobody really does anything about like Love Thy Neighbor or always tell the truth nobody does that and doesn't help you in difficult situations but as I really started understanding how Karma kariste works I realize that it's extremely useful and a lot of modern advice from Business Leaders to celebrities is just a corollary from Business Leaders to celebrities I've never heard them say yes but they say things which are pretty much if you analyze it you will
see that it is all right we'll see how that is so for example right I recently not recently a couple of years back saw an interview of my Mahindra dhoni and he said that in many such interviews especially post match interviews I tell people do not look at today's result okay look at the process did we follow the process correctly did we do the right things and you can see this is just Karma radhikara stay in action yeah right so remind me what the slope is in its entirety yeah so okay you have the right to action alone not to its fruit and don't be motivated by the fruits but don't get attached to inaction either
okay right that's the full shlok all right most of us know the first line of the shlok very well yeah and the second line is something that we typically end up forgetting yeah and the second line is also important you don't use as an excuse to not do any action because fruits don't matter so so tell me how does karma stay play out in real life like I get it but how let's just take an example of this episode right or uh something similar I did earlier on Twitter I wrote a thread on Karma very heartfelt lots of examples of karma vadikara stay in real life okay and it was received well okay but on that same
day I also wrote uh like silly tweet okay in fact it's up on the screen here right now where I said that anytime I expect Mark Zuckerberg to appoint an Indian guy as CEO so that we'll have a satyam Shivam sundaram of Indian CEOs a top tech company okay but that's really funny yeah do you want to guess which one got like you know thousand plus likes and which one got just a few hundred I don't have to guess I can immediately tell you that the zuka book tweet got more likes than your heartfeltics but you know the right thing to do is to write about Karmann Nevada and that's why I do that right I don't do those
funny tweets too many because that's not the right thing fair enough fair enough I get it so basically it's all about keep doing things and uh don't expect the results in the sense that don't expect your tweak to blow up every time just keep putting out good stuff out there in fact one after a very popular person on Twitter puts it this way right look at this he says don't chase money or titles or compliments or shortcuts or invitations that makes sense do Chase education meaningful work ways to help happiness love also makes sense if you look at the list everything in the don't chase list is fruits of actions and everything in The Duchess list is
actions okay yeah this is just again yeah do your work don't expect fruits necessarily out of any other examples in real life where this is applicable yeah so um Google CEO Sundar pichai has forward advice on how to read right in case you don't know who that is that is one of the three of satyam Shivam sundaras so and his advice was reward efforts not outcomes what he's he's not even saying he's saying that whoever is doing you have to reward them not the guys who are focused on the fruits yeah yeah right interesting okay so we'll give one more example okay okay so James Clear has written a very popular book called Atomic habits we have another episode on
Atomic habits which you should definitely go check out we'll put the link in the description or somewhere nearby check it out so uh he says right why should we focus on the process when the world is outcome driven right results do matter in the real world they do well yes the results matter but if you optimize for outcome you win one time okay if you optimize for process that leads to Great outcomes you win again and again and again yeah so optimizing for the process is the smart thing to do agreed um so tell me something um does this mean that outcomes don't matter at all that you should always focus on the process No in fact
outcomes do matter right like James Clear said the world is driven by outcomes uh and in fact a lot of people seem to think that Karma stay is saying ignore outcomes entirely it does not you are allowed to plan you are allowed to think about what is the good outcome and what is the right action to get that outcome right all of that planning you should do and when we say that choose the right action that should be based on expected good outcomes says is that after this Choice has been taken you do those actions and don't get worked up if you don't get the outcome right okay actions are under your control the outcomes are not
Corrections are deterministic outcomes are based on luck they are probabilistic right and that's why it is important because you do the right actions you still might not get the correct outcomes you should not give up at that time right okay sure it looks like failure but it is not failure if you did the right action that's what this is so Naveen tell me how does this impact people of ambition people who have very big things to achieve in life because they will be focused on the goal and the process probably doesn't matter as much to them I don't know much I mean if you take any person who's ambitious and who has succeeded in life and you
read their biography you read their advice you will find that they are also talking about following the process in fact Scott Adams has an entire book on how to fail at everything and win big and the primary advice on that book is okay also um some people tend to think that if outcomes don't matter then why bother with anything and it is going to reduce ambition but that's not true in fact that was anticipated by the writers of the Gita that is why the second line is there do not use this as an excuse for inaction the second line I don't remember but it exactly says do not use it as an excuse for inaction is there any
um anything that people can read or check out to get more information about this apart from the bhagavad-gita of course where else can people go to understand the importance of Karma and what should they read so I have actually written an article and the Twitter thread I talked about which we will be putting in the description yeah where I have collected together a lot of uh this material about how uh applies in real life and how is the right way to think about it so please check those out they are in the links definitely yeah um so that's probably uh where we will call it a day and uh that was Naveen telling us the importance of why you
should focus on the process and not the outcomes I am Shri Khan this is Naveen and this was future IQ thank you
